100 Day Juice Fast Journals

I initially started my weight loss journey following a vegetarian lifestyle in June 2013. Though I have been a vegetarian for over 8 years, I didn’t eat healthy, nor balanced. Having PCOS, made things even more difficult. I started really working hard on getting healthy in August 2013. From August to October I mainly ate vegan/raw vegan foods. During that time period I lost about 30 lbs. About 2 weeks ago, I begin to really get interested in juice fasting. It’s something I had tried to do in the past, but it didn’t work due to the overwhelming temptation in my environment. After doing more research I figured I’d try again. So I started this past Saturday. In this time I have felt amazing. No hunger cravings, and I didn’t have a healing crisis. In fact, my appetite disappeared altogether. I’m now on my 8th day, and feeling great. I have more energy now, than I’ve ever had in my life. In the past 7 days I’ve lost 15 lbs and my skin is looking amazing. I started doing Zumba 4 days a week and I’m walking about 3.5 miles a day. When I began this journey I didn’t really know what would happen,but now I’m so happy I took this step. I also noticed that the emotional issues that lead to me overeating and living on junk came to the surface. I was able to quickly deal with it in a positive way. So I’m not just physically feeling better, I’m emotionally feeling better.
Here’s the typical day for me now:
5 am – drink 2 glasses of lemon water
630 am- Have a glass of carrot,beet,apple,kale juice
9 am- Have a lemon ,ginger,apple zinger juice
1 pm- Have a glass of carrot,beet,ginger juice
3 pm- Have a glass of kale,spinach,ginger,beet juice
5 pm- Have a glass of berry lemon juice
6 pm-Have a glass of apple carrot juice
In between I drink my homemade a vita water. That was my typical day for the first 3 days. Now I’m probably drinking less juice because now I have no appetite. I drink about 4 glasses a day now, plus lots of water.
After receiving so many requests from my friends on Facebook, I decided to make a pdf of my basic grocery list,recipes, and some of the things I’ve experienced thus far. So I’ve pasted it below, for those who might be interested.
Destiny’s Juice Plan
I typically drink about 4-6 glasses of juice a day, but lately I’ve been drinking more of my homemade vita water. Just use this list as a guide, it’s not set in stone. You can add different fruit and vegetables that you like. These are just things that I really enjoy.
Grocery List for about $150
About a week and a half supply if you’re drinking 6 glasses a day. I drink 2-4 a day cause I’ve lost my appetite.
70 Apples (7 Bags)
56 Celery (5 bags)
14 Oranges (2 bags)
42 Cucumbers (30 Large Cucumbers – You can cut them as needed. I never use a full cucumber in a juice)
7 Lemon (1 Bag)
42 Cups Spinach (10 Bundles Spinach)
70 Strawberries (2-3 Packs)
56 Carrots (4-5 3 lb Bags)
14 Cups Grapes (7 lbs)
4.5 Ft Ginger (4.5 ft Ginger)
4 Bundles of Kale
6 Beets (2 bundles)
3 Bundles of Cilantro
3 Bundles of Parsley
This is my basic grocery list. Also you will also need 2-3 quart jugs. I typically juice enough for my day. If you juice in bulk as I do, please be aware the juice starts to oxidize after about 10 hours. So only juice enough for what you’re going to drink for that day. If you have juice left after 10 hours it’ll still be fine to drink, but it’ll lose some of it’s potency. Also your urine will turn red if you juice beets, so don’t freak out. If you drink a lot of carrot/beet juice your skin color will change. So make sure you mix it up. After a few days, you will only urinate, this is normal. Since you’re not getting fiber at this time, you will not have to go number 2. Juice goes directly to your cells.
So I get up at 5 am and juice. I typically make 2 types, and some vita water. Vita water is super simple. Just get jug of spring water, slice some lemons,oranges and get a few sprigs of mint and put it into the jug. Refrigerate, and drink throughout the day. I also have a vita water mix that’s pineapple,cucumber,and mint. If you can find watermelon, you can blend it and pour the juice into empty jug. The one important thing is to have variety at hand, so you don’t get bored.
Basic recipes for juice:
Energy Juice (This is just an estimate, it should make about 8 oz. If you’re going to fill the jug, you’ll need to at least triple the ingredients)
1 Cup Spinach
2 Green Apples
1 Beet,including stems and leaves.
Berry Shine ( This will have a kick to it)
1 Cup Grapes
The Hulk…lol (This is a spicy and crazy drink, not for the light-hearted…lol)
2 Cups Spinach
1 Kale bundle
1 Garlic clove(not the whole clove but about 3 pieces)
1 Bundle of parsley
1 Bundle of Cilantro
4 Green apples
2 Small containers of raspberries.
Cucumber Lemon Smash
1 Green Apple
Mean Green Smoothie Recipe, if you need fiber
1 Pineapples(I usually use about half a pineapple without the core)
8 oz Spring water
1 Cup Spinach
Throw it into the blender, and blend til smooth.
This is the basics of what I’ve been doing. I only drink juiced fruit and veggies, plus water.
I typically drink about 2 glasses around 6 am and then I drink my vita water the rest of the day. That’s only because I’ve lost my appetite. Yesterday I just drank water all day. I didn’t feel the need to have juice. Listen to your body. Also you can gradually work your way up to a full fast. If you’re a heavy meat eater,smoker, or eat lots of processed food you will most likely experience a healing crisis. This is just your body detoxing. If it gets too severe add smoothies and rest a lot. Typically it will only last for 3-5 days. If you make it past day four you will have LOADS of energy and feel like your floating on cloud nine.
In my experience so far, my vision has improved, my sense of smell improved, I’ve lost 15 lbs in 5 days, and my skin looks amazing. If you need any help or just have questions feel free to contact me. If you are on medications, probably gradually adding juice or smoothies would probably work better. Garlic lowers blood pressure, and many of these foods will lower blood glucose to normal levels. Also if you are dealing with low thyroid add kelp or spirulina it will help heal you. This is just my personal experience, and I’m not a doctor, so as they say consult your doctor before starting and get their advice.
I started this journey due to having pcos. Now my pcos has improved greatly. It’s not even been a full week, yet and I feel amazing. I also do zumba and walk daily. Depending on your bodies needs you may need to rest til your body has detoxed. I recommend watching the documentary Fat,Sick and Nearly Dead. You can find it on Netflix. Before I started this journey I was vegetarian, so I’m guessing that’s why I didn’t have a healing crisis. Symptoms of a healing crisis are: Headaches,Diarrhea,Sinus Drainage,Body Aches,and Flu like symptoms. They will go away after a few days. So hang in there. Also drink plenty of water. Water is important!!! Say NO to Processed foods,Sodas, White bread,White Sugar,and salt(Use pink Himalayan salt or black sea salt if needed) after stopping your fast. It is recommended that the first few days after a fast you eat fruit and vegetables only, then add back in grains,legumes,and nuts if you like after about 4 days. As always, I NEVER tell anyone to eat meat. So that’s on you what you choose:)My fast will last for a 100 days, though I wonder if I’ll even go longer due to how AMAZING I feel.
